Therapy
Adults
We offer therapeutic services for people from all walks of life who have a desire for self-reflection and personal growth. We aim to help clients explore their challenges and strengths in order to maximise their potential and find meaning in their life.
Our aim is for you to feel empowered to share your experiences in a safe environment and build an understanding about what’s happening for you so you can work towards your therapeutic goals. We incorporate evidence-based interventions tailored to meet your needs and goals. These therapies focus on building awareness of your thoughts and feelings and how these manifest in both helpful and unhelpful intra- and inter- personal behaviours.
Our ultimate goal is to leave you feeling capable of: managing challenging emotions, acknowledging and re-framing unhelpful thinking patterns and altering behaviours that are no longer serving you.
Children and Adolescents
Therapy can help children and adolescents with a range of issues, including managing emotions, anxiety, depression, challenging behaviour, social difficulties, school refusal, trauma, family separation, and coping with change/life stress. Young people from a variety of backgrounds present to therapy and make huge gains. The earlier you seek psychological support the better for your child and your family.
During therapy, we will work with you and your child to establish healthy patterns of behaviour and communication. While it may be your child who is needing the most support, we strongly believe that sustainable and effective change is achieved through parental involvement, and where necessary, communication with the school.
Children thrive when there is a connected care team surrounding them. Depending on the age of your child and their presenting concerns, we may decide to meet with you, as a parent or carer, individually for the first session. This allows for us to take a detailed history and gives you a space to speak honestly about the difficulties your child is having and the therapy goals you have for them.
Couples Therapy
There are many reasons couples reach out for support in their relationships including: illness, communication, conflict, intimacy, and infidelity challenges.
Understandably couples want to reengage and connect with each other and get back on track as a team in their relationship. Couples therapy with our psychologists is a way that you can work towards breaking the cycles you find yourself in and moving towards a fulfilling relationship.
We provide Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and other evidence-based therapies for couples. Our therapy process will explore the unmet needs you have and look at how these unmet needs are linked with negative emotions and behaviours. In therapy we seek to interrupt these patterns and highlight new ways of working through your challenges.
Please speak to our admin team to book a couples therapy session*.
*Medicare rebates are not available for couples therapy and please check with your private health first to see if they cover you for couples therapy.
Assessments
Psychological assessments are conducted for many reasons. You might want to learn about your intellectual capacity, understand your child's learning profile or behaviours, or you may be worried you have a memory or neurological impairment. We offer a range of assessment services, including cognitive, educational, neuro-developmental, and behavioural assessments.
Cognitive
Cognitive assessments are structured and standardised assessments administered by a psychologist to assist with understanding a person's cognitive strengths and weaknesses in areas of verbal comprehension, non-verbal problem solving processing speed and working memory. You or your child may require a cognitive assessment if you are concerned about developmental delays, learning difficulties, or want to be assessed for giftedness.
Assessments: You'll undertake one of the following depending on your age -Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) -Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) -Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS)
Cost: The cost of a cognitive assessment can vary depending on the time taken for the assessment. Please contact us for more information.
Psychoeducational
Psychoeducational assessments help you understand your child's academic profile. You may require an educational assessment if you are concerned about specific learning disorders, such as dyslexia, or behavioural difficulties, such as ADHD, or are wanting to determine eligibility for funding and educational support. They can also help assess for giftedness.
Assessments: A psychoeducational assessment is comprised of a cognitive assessment and the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT). If a specific learning disorder is identified, other tests may also be recommended but your psychologist will discuss this with you at the time.
Cost: The cost of an educational assessment can vary depending on the time taken for the assessment. Please contact us for more information.
Behavioural
Behavioural assessments help you understand functional difficulties that may be contributing to your child's behaviour. Your child may require a behavioural assessment if you are concerned about their ability to plan, make decisions, organise themselves, act impulsively, not sit still etc. While these behaviours may be developmentally appropriate, if they are causing severe functional difficulties then an assessment may be warranted.
Assessments: Conners 3
Cost: The cost of a behavioural assessment can vary depending on the time taken for the assessment. Please contact us for more information.

Speech Pathology
Speech Pathology plays a vital role in helping children develop the communication and language skills they need to thrive in everyday life. A Speech Pathologist can assess and support children who may have difficulties with speech sounds, language development, stuttering, voice quality, or understanding and using language effectively. Early intervention can make a significant difference in a child’s confidence, social skills, and ability to learn at school.
Types of Support We Offer
Our Speech Pathologists provide personalised therapy tailored to each child’s unique needs. This may include support for articulation and speech clarity, language development (understanding and using words, sentences, and concepts), and literacy skills such as reading, spelling, and comprehension. We also assist children with communication challenges related to developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, or hearing difficulties.
Audiology
Our audiology services provide comprehensive hearing assessments for both children and adults to identify any hearing difficulties that may be impacting communication, learning, or overall quality of life. For children, early detection of hearing issues is essential to support speech, language, and social development, while adults benefit from tailored solutions to enhance daily communication and wellbeing. At Melton Psychology Clinic, all clients seeking Speech Pathology or developmental assessments are required to complete a hearing test prior to commencing therapy. This ensures that any underlying hearing concerns are identified and addressed early, allowing our team to provide the most effective and targeted support.

We provide psychological treatment under the Australian Government’s Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. If you are eligible for a Mental Health Care plan, available from your GP, you may be able to access a Medicare rebate (for a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year). Please note, a gap fee will apply and will vary depending on your referral needs. Similarly, if you are claiming through NDIS, TAC or Workcover a gap fee may apply. Please contact the clinic for your out of pocket costs. You do not need to have a Mental Health Care Plan or other funding body to attend sessions, you may wish to pay privately, but it does assist in reducing costs for you.
To obtain a Mental Health Care Plan you'll need to make an appointment with your doctor. This doesn't need to be a regular doctor, it can be any GP you choose. You'll need a longer consultation to complete the plan so please let the doctor's clinic know at the time of making the appointment. You might feel nervous about speaking to your doctor, that's really normal, try to remember they see many people a day who are wanting mental health support.

Workshops & Presentations
Our psychologists are available to run mental health workshops customized to meet your specific requirements. We have run small and large group workshops about a range of mental health topics, including parenting, managing anxiety, coping with stress, chronic pain, body image, trauma, and crisis response.
